BarTender is available in four versions, providing a variety of features to meet the needs of users. Printer licensing: Both Automation versions do not limit the number of network users. In these versions, licensing is based on the maximum number of printers used by BarTender on the network.

⬛️ Enterprise Automation Edition

The most powerful edition with all the label design, printing, software integration, and external data source acquisition capabilities of Automation Edition, plus advanced server features such as central printing, security, and management. The BarTender Web Print Server included in this edition supports label printing from any browser. This edition also includes our most advanced integration features such as TCP/IP triggers, SAP AII, Oracle XML, XML transformations, and XML scripting. And the comprehensive features provided by companion applications such as Librarian make it even easier to use. You can also track printer parts inventory and media usage within the printer.

⬛️ Automation Edition

Features Included - All of BarTender's most powerful label design features. This edition provides a variety of software integration tools such as ActiveX Automation, enterprise messaging tools, and Seagull's Commander utility (for cross-platform integration). You have access to all the external data source acquisition capabilities of Professional Edition, and also supports SAP IDocs. Includes all companion applications except Librarian, but not all features are included. Only supports logging functions for local databases, but supports all RFID design and encoding functions.

Removed Features - The improved server functionality, advanced integration (e.g. XML and SAP AII), and network printing capabilities of the Enterprise Automation edition (see above) are not available. Librarian is not included. Some companion application features have been removed. There is no logging support for centralized databases, nor inventory control of printer supplies.

PC Licensing: Professional and Basic editions are licensed by PC usage.

⬛️ Professional Edition

Included Features - All of BarTender's most powerful label design features. Supports data access to network databases (using OLE DB and ODBC) as well as spreadsheets and text files. Two companion applications are included: Batch Maker and Print Station.

Removed Features - Cannot be controlled from other software. (No ActiveX, Commander, or command line.) No support for SAP or XML, no logging or email error alerts, and no ability to export printer code templates. Also does not include all features removed from the Automation edition, and does not include Printer Maestro. Several companion applications have also been removed.

⬛️ Basic Edition

Included Features – Most commonly used label design features. Includes all text, graphics, barcodes, and most serialization features. For label data provided via keyboard and scanner only. Companion application includes only Print Station.

Removed Features – No access to external data. Label formats are not password protected, no VB script customization, no string concatenation, only limited text filtering. No support for custom base serialization. Does not include all features removed from Professional Edition, and does not include Batch Maker
